Frederick Coe
Lt Coe was piloting the B-24H, named Frisco Kid alias The Whip, listed in many sources as having Serial # 44-4272, when the plane and crew were shot down on Mission # 166, 12/18/44, to bomb the Oil Refinery at Osweicim, Poland, the same mission that another 759 BS aircraft, B-24H #42-95265, piloted by Lt Schmidt was shot down with all crewmen lost, including Cpl Charles Oscar Mercer, gunner. Unfortunately, several of this crew, including Lt Coe,did not survive this second crash of Lt Coe`s B-24.
Interestingly, Lt Coe`s crew previously escaped capture after being shot down and had returned to flying status.
