Wallace Eggen


W. Homer Eggen, age 79 of Bloomington, Minnesota, died December 31, 2003.

He was a 31-year employee of State Farm Insurance and a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. At age 23, Homer served as mayor of Rushford, Minnesota and was the youngest mayor in the state. He also was a deputy sheriff of Fillmore County, Minnesota. He was an active member of Woodlake Lutheran Church in Richfield, as a Stephen Minister and with Meals-on-Wheels. Homer was past president of the 459th Bomb Group Association, U.S. Air Force. He was an active volunteer in all of the communities in which he lived.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Eric, Peter (Marcia) and Paul (DeDe) Eggen; a daughter, Kathy (Tim) Gundlach; grandsons, Ryan, Justin, Thor, Eli and Tylor; brother, Paul Eggen of Post Falls, Idaho; and uncle Luther Tollefson, St. Charles, Minnesota.

Funeral services were Saturday, January, 3, 2004 at Woodlake Lutheran Church. Private interment was at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. Visitation was Friday evening at Morris Nilsen Chapel in Bloomington, Minnesota and before the services on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to Woodlake Lutheran Church, 7527 Portland Ave. S. Bloomington, Minn. or Minnesota World War II Memorial.
