Herbert C. FERGUSON Promoted to Sergeant
Herbert C. FERGUSON, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. John FERGUSON of Canandaigua RD2, has been promoted to the grade of sergeant, according to an announcement form the 15th AAF in Italy. Radio operator-gunner on a B-24 bomber, sergeant FERGUSON is stationed in Italy, with the veteran 459th Bombardment Group, which began combat operations in March 1944, and has since flown 242 combat missions to all parts of German held territory and has been awarded the Distinguished Unit citation. Sergeant FERGUSON, formerly employed by Eastman Kodak Company as a machinist, has flown 14 combat missions and has been awarded the Air Medal and one Oak Leaf Cluster, and also wears the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, with three battle stars. His wife, Mrs. Trudy FERGUSON, resides at Geneva, RD 2.
