Osborne was born August 13, 1918, to Augusta (Piltz) and Jacob Harvie on a farm near Cheyenne Wells, CO. He graduated from Cheyenne Wells High School
Ossie served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force 759th Bombardment Squadron - flying 35 combat missions in the European Theater of Operations as a B-24 Liberator Bomber aerial nose gunner. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, and earned a Good Conduct Medal, Gunners Wings, and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. On February 7, 1949, Osborne and Gladys Margaret (Koeller) Harvie were united in marriage at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Van Nuys, CA; she passed away August 30, 2011. After their wedding, the couple returned to Colorado, living first on a farm near Hugo, CO, and then at their long time residence southeast of Kiowa, CO. Ossie was a farmer, rancher, and also an employee of Elbert County for 22 years working on the Road and Bridge Department.
