Forrest Hunt


Forrest Frosty G. Hunt, 90, of Decatur, died 9:05 PM Saturday May 17, 2008 at his residence, surrounded by his daughters.

A Funeral service will be held 10 AM, Wednesday May 21, 2008 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday evening. Burial will be at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Decatur, IL. Military rites are to be conducted by Macon County Honor Guard.

Memorials have been suggested to Sharon United Methodist Church or D.M.H. Hospice

Forrest was born December 3, 1917, in Decatur, IL, the son of, Harry and Iva Belle (Larison) Hunt. He married Betty Jane Mullikin on October 19, 1941 at the Cleveland Avenue Methodist Church in Decatur.

Forrest served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He served as a 1st Lieutenant and a Bombardier with the 459th Bomb Group, stationed in Italy. He flew 50 missions while in the service.

Forrest also worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years retiring in January of 1983 and was a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club.

Forrest enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and formerly a member of Cleveland Avenue United Methodist Church, until the church closed.

Forrest is survived by five children, Judith (husband, Danny) Brummerstedt of Mt. Zion, Jan (husband, Jerry) Hunt-Mamula of Wooster, AR, James F. Hunt of Highland, AR, Penny (husband, Doug) Hunt-Dilbeck of Stonington, IL, Becky (husband, John) Forneris of Springfield, 12 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

Forrest was preceded in death by both parents, his wife-Betty Jane, and one brother-Francis.
