2Lt Grover Stephen Brines Jr, nicknamed "Wid," trained at the Army Air Forces Southeast Training Center at Freeman Army Air Field in Seymour, Indiana in Class 43-I which graduated Oct 1, 1943. There were 218 cadets in his class. He was assigned as a 2nd Lt in the 757th Bomber Squadron. His B-24 was shot down Aug 2, 1944 after returning from a bombing run. His remains were never recovered. His name was placed on the memorial wall at Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial at Lorraine, France.
